Responsibilities

In partnership with the Executive Team, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will be responsible for the medical care, delivery system and standards across the full continuum of care.  The incumbent will be an advocate for behavioral health and dedicated to the company’s mission, vision and values.  The CMO will be responsible for promoting an environment of efficacious and compassionate treatment and effective programming, which will ensure that the company delivers excellent outcomes and is established as best in class.

 

The CMO will participate in providing leadership and direction for all strategic, commercial, operational, financial, human capital, and brand building aspects of the organization.  The incumbent will be a key player in carrying out the culture at the company in fulfillment of its commitment to delivery high-quality clinical care, generate high rates of client, family and referent satisfaction, and foster an employee-friendly, inclusive environment.

 

  • Ensure Newport is facilitating the delivery of high-quality medical care, industry leading outcomes, and exceptional customer service, at all times.
  • Foster a cohesive company culture that values action, hard work, personal accountability, systematic performance measurement, empathy and teamwork by providing visible leadership through communication at all levels.
  • Establish an appropriate level of standardization amongst medical providers both in policy and practice that drives a balance of exceptional outcomes and customer service.
  • Collaborate in review and definition of the clinical model.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, state-of-the-art medical practices, across all Newport venues. 
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization with varied constituents across the company and in the community. Represent Newport as a national thought leader in various forums.
  • Participate in the hiring and supervision of physician and mid-level providers as appropriate.
  • As a member of the Executive team, participate in strategic planning, value creation efforts and financial performance.
  • Participate in establishment of market appropriate compensation models and ranges for the medical team.
  • Advocate for the company, its caregivers, and its clients with key external constituents.
  • Assume a leadership position within the industry in terms of promoting access to care, while reducing stigma related to behavioral health.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Business travel will be required up to 50%. Must have the ability to navigate various forms of transportation to accommodate travel requirements.

 

This is a full-time position which equates to 40 or more hours per week.  This position is generally expected to work Monday - Friday, during core business hours however the work schedule and the number of hours may vary and are subject to change based on business or other needs.

The CMO must be responsive in a timely manner to safety, referent, and other constituents around the clock as necessary. 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Must be Board-Certified Psychiatrist
  • Minimum of five (5) years of behavioral health leadership experience.
  • Past experience in physician group practice management preferred.
  • Experience with successfully leading growth and creating value by implementing sophisticated processes across an existing base of operation.in a prior role required.
  • Experience leading physicians, clinicians, mid-level and other health care providers in multisite healthcare, across both decentralized service delivery systems and centralized shared administrative support services.
